communities they most impact, that benefit both animals and humans. Will you join us?
Professionally, Kerry David is an award-winning filmmaker, but personally she is a lifelong advocate for animals and wildlife.
In 2015, after learning about the devastating effects that global poaching and human/wildlife conflicts have on animals and communities in Africa, no longer able to look away from their plight, she felt compelled to act.
"We’re in the 6th Greatest Extinction, and we've lost 68% of our wildlife in the last 50 years-both of these due to humans. If we truly care about the future of animals, and our planet's healthy biosphere, then I feel we have to engage at any level we can, before it truly is too late.”
Kerry’s TEDx Talk recounts how she and her team chose to engage in this crisis by traveling to Africa and Asia to find the women on the frontlines of the poaching war, who were dedicating their lives to preventing further extinction. That journey, and the women (and the unforgettable wildlife!) they encountered, are now the subjects of her multiple award-winning film:

Starting Over and Above Africa was the first step in her life-long commitment to advocate for endangered species, and support the communities they impact. Every project that Over and Above Africa supports is filmed and shared with a global audience for awareness, to amplify the reach of each project, person or foundation leading it and for full transparency of donor funds allocation.
